Backstage with King Cotton
Set Design
Tue 26 June 2007
Ti Green's designs for the set of
King Cotton are brought to
The Lowry and shown for the first time to the team who will bring the production to life.
The set is inspired by the containment areas of the ships which transported slaves and also which brought cotton to the North West. Once open, the set's industrial look points to the factories where the cotton was worked.
Sound and lighting designers came together with techinical managers, stage managers and the marketing team to find out more about how
King Cotton will look and how to translate that into a working set for the huge stages at both
The Lowry and
Liverpool Empire.
Designs for the costumes of
King Cotton will be revealed soon.
